Ladakh a high altitude plateau, know as Little Tibet, is an excellent trekking region of Jammu and Kashmir State. In the south of Ladakh are Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh with their emerald green valleys, alpine meadows, pine forests, clear mountain streams and lakes.

The Garhwal and Kumaon regions of Uttaranchal, containing many peaks over 20,000 ft. Are the most popular destinations for trekkers. The trekking areas in Sikkim resemble the middle hills of Nepal.

Trekking is not just the fad of eccentrics and bush walkers, its realm joy is in the unhurried pace of travel, with appreciating the awesome beauty of mountains and the might of the rivers and glaciers.


For trekking, no special training is required, any one who loves nature, is active, in good health and would like to remain physically fit can trek. Trekking season varies according the area you intend to trek through. Seasons for Garhwal: Kumaon, Himachal Pradesh are April to June and Mid September to November, Ladakh June through October and Sikkim October to May.

Nepal trekking takes place from March to May and October to November, and Bhutan March to May and September to November.
